Here, let me help you!

I took a walk into the Bloor West Village this bright and beautiful morning and stopped off at a cafe to grab a coffee.

BUT…

This cafe has the worst door for getting a stroller in and out and our stroller doesn’t help much because it is the SUV of all strollers!  (Yes the one that broke but I still use for walks but can’t travel anywhere with)

However! This was a gorgeous morning and nothing was going to ruin it. And like an angel of kindness, a beautiful elderly lady raced to my rescue to usher me and Noah safely  through the door. As I poured out my thanks she replied:

“Well, we got to help each other out, don’t we.”

My first thought was ‘Yes, us moms and women gotta stick to gether and help each other out” But I couldn’t help but notice the way she said it, the heart behind her words sounded different.

People…humanity 

We gotta help each other out.

And isn’t that the problem, that we don’t help each other? That we all struggle with selfishness? Wouldn’t the world be a lot kinder, a lot healthier if we just helped each other. What if we didn’t fight because we were insecure and afraid but we helped with understanding and love because we all feel that way sometimes.

That sweet lady restored a lot of my hope in humanity.

My family and the loved ones around me, bring healing and restoration to me everyday. If I just stop and take a good look around me I realize how thankful I am AND how much I have to give,

How much we all have to give.

You know You’ve Given Up When…

Some days begin and quickly you realize it’s one of those days. 

You can usually tell when I’ve given up on a day because Noah will be in his pajamas ALL day. Haha. 

You can also tell I’ve given up when I make a Walmart run early in the morning wearing Jon’s old sweatshirt, baggy sweat pants and wearing no make-up…and if thats bad enough…OH sweet baby Jesus, buy a McDonald’s coffee cuz it’s available. 

(I knew the instant I walked into the Walmart I was great potential for the “people of Walmart” website. I could see the title flashing before my eyes “trailer trash mom…too skinny…on drugs?”) 

You also know I’ve given up when after a LONG day of battling the TTC with a stroller I come home and realize the stroller won’t fold up and so after about 10min of trying to be patient I throw it half way across the parking lot, beat it, tell a stranger: no one can help me, and throw it on the grass and leave.  I have to say, it felt really good to beat the thing! 

(Jon was perplexed when he came home and saw our stroller lying on the ground in front of our parking spot, he didn’t have better luck either!)

And of course, all of these moments are now hilarious events that Jon and I laugh at…

The mother who lost it.

But we all lose it sometimes, and I will be the first to admit that I can be a tad bit dramatic!

I can also admit that life has it’s ups and downs and thats ok. In fact, it can be really funny when you look back, and it can also build character in us.

In the words of a wise friend by the name of Bonny:

“If we always got our way, we’d be spoiled brats!” HAHA I love that!

So true!

I did it! I worked up the guts and cut my hair! And you know what? I LOVE IT!
